Spring Cleaning For Your Skin: Revitalise & Rejuvenate

As the chilly winter months gradually yield to the warmth and rebirth of spring, it's not just your wardrobe that could do with a thorough sprucing up. Your skin, too, deserves a revitalising treatment after enduring the harsh winter elements.
In this blog post, we'll explore the notion of "spring cleaning" for your skin and introduce you to some pertinent aesthetic treatments to help you achieve a refreshed and radiant appearance.

1. Exfoliation - The Basis of Spring Skin Renewal:
Exfoliation is essential for shedding the dull, dead skin cells that accumulate over the winter, helping reveal a fresher, more vibrant layer of skin underneath. Some popular exfoliation methods include:

2. Hydration – Dry, flaky, dehydrated and lacklustre skin is a common issue during the winter months. Spring is the ideal time to replenish your skin's moisture levels and/or support your hydrating processes that are adjusting to the warmer weather. Consider treatments such as:

  • Chemical Peels: Peels such as Lactic Acid are excellent for renewing skin texture, complexion, and hydrating the skin. They engulf the excess dead skin cells and exfoliate these away, leaving soft, supple and hydrated skin.

  • HydraFacial: This treatment combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection in one non-invasive procedure.

  • Dermal Fillers: These can be used to add volume to areas that have lost fullness, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Some fillers are also skin boosters and assist in hydration and plumpness.

3. Advanced treatments – Microneedling:
This collagen induction therapy offers several benefits for rejuvenating and refreshing your skin during the spring season. It encourages cell turnover to exfoliate and retexturize skin, promotes collagen and elastin production to target fine lines, wrinkles, and ageing, and microneedling addresses hyperpigmentation, scarring, acne, and more. Spring is a great time to have an advanced facial treatment as it ‘awakens’ the skin post winter and encourages better penetration of your active products.
In addition to microneedling, there are many more advanced treatments such as laser that can be an effective treatment for some.

4. Sun Protection – Essential Year-Round:
Sunscreen is a necessity regardless of the season, however, even more crucial in spring and summer due to the increase in UVB. Using broad-spectrum sunscreen (my favourite is a Zinc based physical sunscreen such as Uber Zinc), into your daily skincare routine is a vital step in maintaining your skin's health.

Skincare really is crucial to achieving skin health as well as being ‘spring-clean’ too. Having at at-home personalised skincare regime equates to 80% of your results, whereas treatments boost your product effectiveness and roughly make up the remaining 20%.
