Skinformation: Dehydrated Skin

Very common to occur, and easy to resolve. Many clients present with dehydrated skin but they leave hydrated and armoured with knowledge on how to avoid chronic skin dehydration.

Dehydration being very different to dry skin, typically presents as dull, tired looking, rough (not cracking like dry skin), and dark under-eyes, to name a few. It is extremely common and one’s skin can fluctuate with its hydration depending on weather changes, stress, internal and external factors such as air conditioning or incorrect/stripping skincare.

Dry skin lacks essential natural oils and ceramides in the skin, whereas dehydration lacks water. Often, people apply oils and thicker moisturisers to the skin to combat their dehydration mistaking it for dry skin, however, it is water the skin is needing and rebalancing.

Many products can alleviate this and should be part of your daily regime, especially if you are a regular sufferer. Book with us today to learn your skin type, condition, and needs.

Treating Dehydration

Here are some quick pointers about how to treat acne and where to start. Ultimately, book a consultation with one of our team and learn about your skin.

  • Your skin journey begins with an in-depth skin consultation and skin analysis. We need to determine factors, triggers, medical history, current skincare, and a background history to determine a treatment plan to assist you to skin health.

What may present as dehydration, this may not be the only condition that the skin is manifesting.

At MiSkin, we are serious about skin, your wellbeing and results. We do this through education and care.

  • Well, this is individual to each person’s skin and needs. However, our primary focus is to ensure a healthy skin barrier function and reduce any sensitivity caused by dehydration.

Resurfacing skin peels, especially lactic acid, are great at buffing away excess dead skin cells, smoothing skin texture, hydrating the skin, and replenishing moisture.

Our clinical facials are great at managing and address dehydration in the skin.

From here, we can customise treatments to include more advanced treatment solutions, such as micro-needling and/or resurfacing peels, to achieve optimal skin health.

  • A tailored medical grade skincare routine is essential. We want effective ingredients that are going to address cell processes at the core, not on the surface. Medical grade skincare achieves this.

Hyaluronic acid, urea, and vitamin B, are some examples of very hydrating ingredients that don’t saturate the skin (worsening dehydration).

Be mindful of many companies claiming to be cosmeceutical due to having one or two ingredients at a high concentrate. However, it’s critical you are using high-quality medical grade skincare that has clinical data and research behind it, otherwise it’s unfounded.
