Oh, so rosey!
Rosacea: A skin condition that is often misdiagnosed or mismanaged. Well, not at MiSkin.

There are many skin conditions that can present with facial flushing. For example, sun damage through extrinsic ageing, and hormonal or histamine sensitivity. However, rosacea is a medical and oily skin condition in its own right that manifests in one or more ways regarding skin redness and broken capillaries, facial flushing, pustules, and papules, and it can be very stubborn to get under control! In some cases, rosacea can even affect the eyes.

Rosacea affects both men and women, a variety of ages (typically those aged between 30 and 60 years of age), and all ethnicities. Although more likely to be present in fair skin or Celtic Orgin people, millions globally of all ethnicities suffer with rosacea. It’s a condition that’s cause and cure is still unknown and undergoing a lot of clinical research, however, it is another condition that can be managed and reduced significantly.

Such a skin condition requires an experienced and knowledgeable therapist as it can be easily misdiagnosed and mismanaged. Rosacea is a skin condition that MiSkin specialises in and has facilitated numerous trainings on.

Treating Rosacea

Here are some quick pointers about how to treat acne and where to start. Ultimately, book a consultation with one of our team and learn about your skin.

  • Your skin journey begins with an in-depth skin consultation and skin analysis. We need to determine factors, triggers, medical history, current skincare, and a background history to determine a treatment plan to assist you to skin health.

Anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredients are really important for the treatment of rosacea. Non occlusive ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, and vitamins A, B, and C are very beneficial to rosacea. It depends what stage of rosacea you have for what products (level of activity) you will be able to tolerate, however.

Facial flushing or telangestasia requires anti-redness ingredients and vitamin A and C especially.

At MiSkin, we are serious about skin, your wellbeing and results. We do this education and care.

  • Certainly treatments that help to reduce inflammation and strengthen the skin’s barrier function.

A MiSkin signature facial will be the first step to doing this and addressing oil and discomfort in the skin.

From here, we can customise treatments with resurfacing peels and look at more advanced treatments such as micro-needling to address any residual scarring, enlarged pores, and textural irregularities.

  • A tailored medical grade skincare routine is essential. We want effective ingredients that are going to address cell processes at the core, not on the surface. Medical grade skincare achieves this.

Be mindful of many companies claiming to be cosmeceutical due to having one or two ingredients at a high concentrate. However, it’s critical you are using high-quality medical grade skincare that has clinical data and research behind it, otherwise it’s unfounded.
