The importance of a skin coach

At MiSkin, we are dedicated to assisting you achieve your ultimate skin goals and we love being on the journey to success with you.

In this latest blog we explain the importance of a skin coach vs going at it alone and overwhelmed by all the choices. Of course you can look after your skin by yourself and there are some great over the counter skincare products designed just for this, however, there is a large leap between that path, and one with a skin coach (or skin specialist).

What is a skin coach?

Having a specialist that takes all the guess work out of skincare regimes, skincare ingredients, and treatment procedures, and are in essence your encyclopaedia to understanding how to achieve optimal skin health without all the exhaustive trial and errors; this would be great to have, right? Well, that is what a skin coach is.

We are specialists in dermal skin therapy, cosmetic chemistry, and skin anatomy (to name a few), and we provide a long-term relationship of care, advice, and support.
We have many qualifications and extensive experience in treating an array of skin conditions - it is a job that requires continual study, improvement and learning, as the industry rapidly grows and new research and medical science is discovered.

Much like we see a dentist or hygienist for dental maintenance or treatment without hesitation, or our GP for the regular health check-ups or health issues, people need a skin coach to trust in and advise them of how to look after the largest organ of the body, skin, too.

Our skin deserves as much attention and care as any other organ of our body does. Why? Well, because it’s our largest organ of the body that is largely responsible for our survival, immunity, and protection. Even a skin condition such as acne or eczema disrupts and affects that.

At MiSkin, we take a lot of pride in our heavily scientifically researched and curated services and products; extensively backed by science and an abundance of clinical data proving their efficiency for use and results. We are serious about skin, serious about results, and we are serious about you and your goals.

who needs a skin coach?

Well, we would like to say everyone because every person can benefit from having one! At MiSkin, we first conduct an in-depth skin consultation to establish the health and functionality of your skin, concerns, medical history, and ideal goals you would like to achieve so we can customise a treatment plan for you and offer you the best solutions. From here, you can decide if this path is for you and enjoy the education and results!

A skin coach is there to listen to you, provide education and answers to your skin concerns, and where it is beyond the scope of practice of our professional and fantastic team, we provide you solutions and recommendations on professionals to see for further testing.

So, if you are wanting to achieve optimal results, treat a concern or condition within the skin, and/or even learn more about your skin needs, you need a skin coach.

What does a skin coach do?

We are responsible for providing a short-term and long-term treatment plan(s), reviewing your results and adapting this where agreed and necessary, offering solution-based active skincare advice, and education on skin processes. We recommend and prescribe medical grade products and are solely charged with optimal skin health and management of the skin; not just skin disease like our medical professionals - we work together.

We have one skin, once chance with our skin, and have our skin for a lifetime. It takes years of study, research, and expertise to become an experienced skin coach; they earn their position through rigorous study and experience and are separate to any beauty therapist or therapy business.

But I know my stuff too

That’s great! We encourage our clients to do their research and look into different solutions. There is never any pressure from the team at MiSkin, it is up to you what you feel is the right path for you. It can, however, be exhausting and disappointing trialing different things and buying into the latest trends or recommendations can be incredibly expensive too.

This is where it differs with a skin health professional and skin coach. Not to mention, a lot of the clinical data and trails aren’t advertised so what is saturating our market in a cosmetic sense (department stores, chemists, etc), isn’t always correct advice and is often misleading.

So, do you have a skin coach? If you don’t, or you are looking for a new one, MiSkin is your destination and ultimate skin clinic.

Enquire today and book a skin consultation.
